Physics of rotating stars and astrophysical consequences
 
After a brief introduction recalling the main challenges in the modelling of stars in general, this presentation will explain the different approaches used so far for the building of rotating stellar models in 1D. Then, we shall explore three specific questions. The first one concerns the constraints on the physics of rotation obtained by the measurements of boron abundances at the surface of early Main-Sequence B-type stars. The second is the impact of different approaches in the modeling of rotation on the evolution of close binaries. Finally, we shall discuss different ways fast-rotating stellar cores can be obtained at the end of the evolution of single massive stars, leading, possibly, either to superluminous supernovae or fast-rotating black holes. We shall see that an initially fast rotation might not be a necessary condition; it might even lead to too slow core rotation for producing superluminous supernovae or fast-rotating black holes.
